The members of Foundation First’s Board of Directors have a strong commitment to at-risk foster youth within Los Angeles County. Our board members possess diverse skills, in such areas as finance, law, business, social work and social services. Through the diversity of our board & relationships with other community based social service organizations; Foundation First is responsive to local need. The Board of Directors are responsible for strategic oversight of the mission and core competencies of Foundation First. They provide caring governance to ensure sound organizational and financial business practices which also include the delivery of high-quality, effective foster youth services.
DANIEL SOBKO, BOARD CHAIR OF FOUNDATION FIRST Agent at New York Life Insurance Company; Daniel Sobko is a Financial Services Professional with New York Life Insurance Company. He has over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, insurance and banking. Daniel has also dedicated his time away from the office to working in the community, volunteering for school based mentoring programs and developing his alumni association chapter.
STEPHANIE RUSH, BOARD MEMBER OF FOUNDATION FIRST Stephanie Rush-Dawkins has worked as a professional Social Worker for over 20 years, including being a parenting instructor, life coach, board member for a teenage abstinence program and instructor. She is a certified Parenting Instructor and motivational instructor. She is a Life Group leader and Spiritual instructor. She enjoys working with families and, encouraging them to recognize their strengths and make a decision to make better choices. Originally she began her career working with adults with mental and emotional problems, and coming to understand this population established the foundation that propelled her into working with families and a nonprofit organization that provided Family Preservation Services to families, which she was able to see first the importance of working with individuals from a strength prospective. Her current position is a Children’s Social Worker, for the Department of Children and Family Services.
OLGA ONKAR KAUR, BOARD MEMBER OF FOUNDATION FIRST Olga Onkar Kaur is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, and holds a Master of Social Work (MSW). As a child, Olga was clairvoyant and had many profound spiritual experiences throughout her life which led her to become the intuitive healer she is today. She has extensive training in advanced energy healing based in Sat Nam Rasayan and Siberian, Native American and Tibetan healing arts. Olga is also an internationally Certified Practitioner of Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, through the Kundalini Research Institute, IKYTA, and 3HO.
GORDON PEPPARS, BOARD MEMBER OF FOUNDATION FIRST Gordon Peppars brings world-class advertising, branding and marketing expertise having generated $1 billion dollars in revenue for blue-chip companies like ABC, Disney, Tribune Broadcasting and The Los Angeles Times. Gordon served as a Sales Advisory Committee (SAC) board member for the Television Bureau of Advertising and Tribune McCormick Foundation Fellow. The UCLA graduate and NCAA Champion holds professional designations from the Northwestern University Media Management Center and USC’s Institute of Advanced Advertising Studies.
SOPHIA GARCEAU, BOARD MEMBER OF FOUNDATION FIRST Sophia Garceau has over 15 years in Retail Sales Management. Sophia Dedicates her time to Zonta International. To empower women worldwide by improving the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local levels through service and advocacy. Sophia is dedicated to giving back and making a difference in lives in the foster youth Services.
